Description WHAT A GREAT ITEM!!! Here we have a very good quality hallmarked solid silver ENTREE DISH indeed.  These are rarely seen nowadays. It is of fluted form,i have not had one like this before! This lovely piece is assayed in Sheffield,1894 by high quality makers MAPPIN & WEBB. Stamped to base likewise.  Year letter b stamped to both lid and base.  Curiously the handle is stamped with letter l for 1903.It is marked M&W likewise and a perfect fit and so it must be the original.  It is a good snug fit when locked. The handle is detachable,the lid can thus be turned upside down and used as a dish in its own right. The combined weight is a sublime 1413 grams (45.59 troy ounces)!!  The height is 4.75 inches and the diameter 10 inches.Depth is 7.25 inches.It is thus a huge dish!  The condition is EXCEPTIONAL.  A truly beautiful and most wonderful antique serving dish of large size.And of the highest quality too.  It sits flat on its base. It is engraved with a crest to the lid and always has been,absolutely no erasures whatsoever. These are nearly always plated,silver ones are thus hardly ever seen.  Would make a really nice and highly unusual present perhaps?
