Pewter Plate Dated 1781 w/ Owners & Maker Marks' Description For sale in this auction is an 18th century pewter plate, marked by the maker and by an owner(s), and dated 1781.  This is a 9-1/2 inch plate that is 13/16 inch tall, and which bears the mark of the maker three times on the reverse.  The maker's mark consists of an oval cartouche containing a standing angel with scales and with a small deer-like animal, and arranged around the cartouche are four semi-circles containing "BLOCK TIN", "DER", "C.P.", and possibly "CHIOR" (?).  On the face of the rim are "SMD", "SMH", and "1781".  The 1781 can be seen under the SMH in photo #6.
