This period federal empire example has a beautiful crotch mahogany top with rounded corners, having a cross grained slight bullnose edge. Apron has a central tablet with cross grained raised banding flanked by carved scrolls, lotus flower, and volute, star punched in center. Square tapered veneered pedestal plinth, with 1/2" cross banding with wavy animated veneer. Bold animated lotus leaf carved on three sides collar with concave and bolexion moulded plinth. Sides of plinth have striped mahogany veneer. Fluid, serpentine base, quarter round spool turnings along top edge. Plinth supported by four scroll feet with original casters, star punch in center of feet within scrolls. Illegible signature on back, also impressed 8 and 4, as Fiske marked his pieces....Dimensions: 29" tall, 18" deep, 36" wide. A gorgeous period example.
