An Eight Day clock striking out the hours and standing seven feet tall. This clock has the charming --and very unusual-- feature of striking out the quarter hours on bells (Note the cluster of three bells seen in the photograph of the movement). One bell struck at 15 minutes after, two bells struck at 30 minutes after, and three bells struck at 45 minutes after the hour. The original mahogany case is finely inlaid with herringbone inlay to hood, waist, and base and retains its original feet. The original large brass dial is 19 inches high/ 14 inches wide and elaborately engraved. The steel pierced hands are original. The calendar date is read on the inside of the silvered ring, and numbered 1 through 31. The seconds dial is recessed and engraved with the points of the compass. Though the clock is fully operational it is in need of various minor repairs-- movement needs cleaning, calendar hand needs replacement, seconds hand needs repair, case needs to be cleaned and waxed, glass to hood needs replacement, one small piece of veneer needs replacement, crack to base needs repair, and lastly, a key should be made for lock. This work will be performed at NO additional cost, prior to shipment of clock to buyer. We have been restoring clocks for thirty years and restoration work is guaranteed to satisfy buyer.
