This set comprises 4 piece place settings for 18: 1 entremet knife, 2 dinner knives and 1 dessert knife. The caps and ferrules are sterling silver, decorated with foliate motifs, elegant and exquisitely chased. The ivory handles are inset with sterling silver interlaced monogram "AC". The blades on the dessert knives are sterling silver. The other knives appear to be original to the set and bear the Paul Canaux enscription. Canaux was a noted Parisian silversmith at the turn of the century: 1892-1911. This set is an absolute prize! I was thrilled to get it in Paris. I've never seen one like it before, not likely to find another any time soon. Do not miss it! Condition: Very good. Some of the ivory handles have hairline splits due to age and drying, as well as due to the inset sterling monogram. The knives are all sturdy, the splits in no way compromising the utility of the pieces. The blades have very little in the way of oxidation, somewhat unusual for the old steel blades.
