Recently, it was restored by a team of master craftsmen and subsequently imported to our antique furniture store here in Atlanta, GA, USA. Every aspect of this bureau bookcase, from its great age to its enduring beauty, is positively remarkable. The recent restoration included a replacement of the hardware and leather as well as a general cleaning of the wood; otherwise, the excellent condition in which this bureau bookcase remains owes exclusively to the extremely high quality of the craftsmanship and materials that were combined to produce it. The mahogany continues to display a rich complexion and striking grain, which the new solid brass hardware complements beautifully, while the gold-tooled green leather is also gorgeous. Other notable features include original feet and doors, hand-cut dovetails and a rock-solid integrity of structure. There are only a few minor stress marks here and there and the locks no longer function, but there is no notable damage. This bureau bookcase also offers a generous amount of storage space, so it is as useful as it is a beautiful, museum-quality antique. Attention! Before you buy, please read our Terms and Conditions. As you can see, this bureau bookcase offers an impressive amount of storage space. Even the sides look great. A view of the back reveals some of the sturdy paneling that composes the structure of this bureau bookcase. You could not ask for a more exquisite work space. In a recent restoration, the hardware was replaced; also note the small stress mark in the wood here. The green leather is bordered by fine, hand-worked gold tooling and embossing. Each drawer features hand-cut dovetails. The moulding looks great. Remarkably, these are the original feet, indicating that this bureau bookcase was not only crafted with supreme skill, but also that it has endured the years well.
