Description
I love this chair.  It's been in my family for more than 70 years.  It was a gift to my grandfather in the early 1900's.  He was a hotshot lawyer and a family needed his expertise to defend someone, but they had no money.  He won their case and they paid  him with this chair.  I wish I knew their names or something more about them.  I remember playing on it as a child.  Our mother called it "The Pope Chair".  An ex-priest told me it's actually a Bishop's chair.  I don't really know for sure, but I do know that I was the Fairy Princess in this chair and I was very special in this chair!!  I also used to hide in it from my big brother!  Yes, the seat lifts completely up and has a huge interior.  It's probably for storing some type of religious artifacts or blankets or me?  I don't really know!  I know my mother used to hide her expensive liquors in it to keep teenagers away from it as we were growing up !!  Anyway, we moved from Topeka, KS to the Washington, DC area in the late 1950's and brought the chair with us.  When my parents passed, I got the chair.  But, I am not into antiques, so I gave it to one of my sisters.  Now she is getting ready to retire and we need to sell the chair because it is too big to fit into a retirement apartment building. It is located in Montgomery County, MD - about 15 miles outside of Washington, DC.  It is VERY heavy and it will take 2-4 men/strong women to move it.  The buyer will have until Jan 1, 2009 to pick it up.  We will also let the buyer have a moving company ship it or move it if they would like.  Moving it and shipping it are the responsiblity of the buyer - at their own risk, expense and time.  I will be glad to assist but only as a stand-by advisor/instructor/etc.  I will not add any additional fees because I will not be doing any additional work!! :.) Serious bidders only - I will consider any and all bids but  no silly bids please.  This is not a $25 or $200 item. Please ask questions BEFORE bidding See my fine print below for more information     My Fine Print:     PAYMENT METHODS & TIME FRAME: At this time, I accept Paypal ONLY and payment is due within 72 hours of auction's ending time.  SHIPPING/PICKING UP/Insurance are the responsibility of the buyer
