It is marked "J. Munson" in an embossed stamp on the bottom. This is the only marking on the piece. John Munson is known for his work in Yalesville Connecticut in the mid 1800's. Though the piece is not dated I am going to guess it was made between 1846 to 1852. If features a round raised ring on the base with tapering sides and a scrolled handle. It appears that the handle may have been enameled but has worn off. The domed lid is well aligned on the top and the hinge works smoothly with little wear. There are a few small dings and dents in the sides but there are NO holes or corrosion. It hold water. This is a very solid piece. It measures approximately 11" tall x 6 3/8" diameter at the base. Holds 2 quarts. It weights approximately 2-3/4lbs.  JUST STUNNING COULD USE A POLISHING IF THAT'S THE LOOK YOU ARE GOING FOR.
