Because of the original quality of this chest of drawers as well as the excellently performed restoration, every aspect of this chest of drawers, whether it be structural or cosmetic, is of the utmost quality. The mahogany, for example, which was given a French polish during the restoration, has developed a lovely patina over the years, and now displays an incredibly rich complexion and grain. The solid brass hardware, bone-inlaid escutcheons and rosewood-banded top also look quite stunning, while the bowfront design and columnar accents also look wonderful. Built with a classic two-over-three drawer design, this chest of drawers offers plenty of storage, and each of the strong drawers features hand-cut dovetailed joints. The turned baluster feet, which were a popular design in the Victorian period, are original, which is unusual given the age of this chest of drawers, indicating that the structure of this chest has always been strong. Because this chest was recently restored, there is no wear to speak of beyond an occasional stress mark here and there, which is to be expected. As you can see, this mahogany chest of drawers offers plenty of storage space. The sides look great. The bowfront shape is simply wonderful. These solid brass pulls contrast beautifully with the mahogany. Here you can see how wonderfully the mahogany, rosewood banding and string ebony inlay complement one another so well. These bone-inlaid escutcheons no longer house functioning locks. Each drawer features hand-cut dovetailed joints. This chest retains its original turned baluster feet.
