Notice the beautiful bobbin turned column running down either side of the drawers. There are dovetails in the front and rear of the drawers. Rear dovetailed joints even in older pieces are unique.      This beautiful antique Victorian Mahogany Chest of Drawers was created around 1890 in England. The mahogany looks wonderful, with a well-developed patina, dark color, and rich grain. This piece has 4 graduated long drawers w/ the top drawer being one that is unique to Scottish chests. The drawer boasts unpretentious knob handles w/ wooden threads running through the back and hand-crafted dovetailed joints in the front and rear. The bottom drawer is about 14 1/2" deep.  Bun feet provide sturdy support so there is no need to worry about stability. There are slight veneer bubbles on either side; minor interior repairs on the drawers and slight imperfections on the top and back (see picture below). It's great for winter comforters. The mahogany on this piece is rich in color and the patina has depth. Bun feet create a firm foundation for this lovely piece. Age splits are common among pieces of this age and can denote authenticity. The age split in this foot is purely cosmetic and does not affect the condition. The top trim has a few age splits. This wear is consistent w/ pieces over 100 years old.
