The Marble, called “Brèche d’Alep” was very much used during the 18th and 19th centuries. The quarry is not exploited anymore. This Fire Surround with fluted jambs and frieze dates back to the late 1800s. This is a “Pompadour” Fire Surround in excellent condition.
