Click here to viewFULL SIZED IMAGES Click HERE for our other AUCTIONS Antique French Silver Jug • Emile Taburet ~ Ca.1870's ~ Paris • Superb piece of French 1st standard silver(.950 purity), a small jug that is beautifully crafted and decorated. The hinged lid is has an acorn finial, the handle is carved ebony. and the body is adorned with Acanthus leaf, reeding and fluted decoration. The best bit is the the exceptional "green man" mask decoration that composes the entire spout. It measures a tad more than 5 inches in height, 4 1/4 inches across at the handle and is beautifully made from very heavy gauge silver. It is fully hallmarked with the Minerva head French 1st standard silver(.950) mark used since 1838, the "ET" in lozenge (used 1868 -1881) maker's mark of Emile Taburet (later a founder of Boin-Taburet), and with the Taburet - Paris retailer's mark. Outstanding example of French 19th Century silver and in excellent condition.
