Contained in a red leather covered case, with embossed decoration on the lid, it comes with a complete set of accessories (as detailed on the instruction paper). All of the optics are complete and in fine order, as are the mechanics. Perhaps the most charming aspect of this little mic is the accompanying four page letter (dated 1851), gifting to the instrument to one Henry Cox, from his sister Ellen Cox. In the letter mention is made of a trip to My Gargory's (or perhaps Mr Gregory's) scientific instrument shop, where the microscope was discussed, along with the subject matter of the sliders, as seen under magnification. Condition of the lacquer is very good, but the limb attaching the tube to the pillar, although early in origin, does not appear to be that which would have been originally supplied with the microscope, although it is feasible that it was present when the instrument was purchased by Ellen Cox's father.Post, at cost, will be $30 outside the UK, £12 within.
