General Philip Schuyler's Revolutionary War Travel Desk A Historical American Artifact Revolutionary War General Philip Schuyler gave his personal travel desk to the Wing family in Fort Edward, NY in approximately 1779 as a token of gratitude for their efforts during the war. The Wing family was a major supporter of the Continental cause and supplied ther portion of the Northern Continental Army, under Schuyler, with whatever provisions they could provide. The desk remained in the Wind family until 1956 when it was purchased by Clara Kempshall Meyer - an extended member of the Wing family, Current owner is the grandson of Clara Kempshall Meyer, Richard "Kemp" Meyer, Jr. Also included in the desk's purchase is an original letter written by General Schuyler. (See scan.) All historical information is readily verified through the Fort Edward New York Historical Association. The pictures of the split document is the provenance of the desk.
