It is decorated in a typical art nouveau, 'Mucha' style having two female forms integrated into the sinuous representations of plants and flower buds. Plant tendrils protrude above the rim to form handles. The outside and inside have the grey patina typical of pewter whereas the underneath is plain and quite shiny wih a silver tone. Measurements: 23 cms x 8.5 cms wide (at base). It weighs approximately 800 grams. Maker: I cannot find any maker's marks or touch marks. There are scratches on the underneath that suggest some original markings have been removed. I have been told it was made in Germany. Date: The patina and fine detail, especially of the decorated female forms suggest to me that this is a genuine, early piece. However I have no hard evidence for this and I am definately not an expert. There is perhaps some crudeness of engraving on the main body of the piece that could mean it is a reproduction.
