This is a very large Antique pewter whale oil lamp that is a wonderful example of a primitive lighting device.  This is an unmarked piece of pewter that has a classical shape to it with a wide base. The lamp has it's original burner which is rare. Based upon the size,style and shape of this pewter whale oil lamp it is from 1825-50 at the latest and could be some years earlier than that date. This lamp is offered here with no reserve! DIMENSIONS:  The lamp is 7 3/4" H.(top of burner), 7 3/8" H.(top of lamp) x 2 7/8" Dia. at the font and 4 3/8" Dia. at the base. CONDITION:  The condition is very good with minor denting, scratching and discoloration commensurate with age..
