It is entirely made of sterling silver. It was manufactured by Howard and Co. in 1893. It says this on the bottom along with "sterling" and "New York." The center platform holds a complete set of weights, ranging from 1/2 oz. to 2 oz. Each of the weights is marked sterling except for the top 1/2 oz. weight. The entire piece is in exceptional condition. There are no repairs or dents. It is entirely original. I don't have a scale to weigh it, but it is definitely a quality example which must have been very expensive in its day.
