Description
145 year-old crutches used by Civil War Veteran. Fourth generation family heirloom offered to earnest Civil War Collector. Great-grandfather, CSA, Fluvannia Artillary, was wounded 11-7-1863 at Kelly's Ford. His leg was amputated at Chimberazzo Hospital near Richmod, VA. His own written account... "My right leg now sleeps in Chimiberzzes Cemitary ok if I could find the spot where it was intered I would like to build a little monument around the dear old chum But thank God at the great day of reckoning we will come together." Included with listing are most interesting period documents ( letters, family records, photos ) for authenticity & history. No dates or labels on crutches. Dark wood, black leather arm pads, brass hardware. Measure 50in. & weigh about 5lbs. Museum quality item for display or serious collection. Unique listing has Reserve due to significance to family.
