Wilson Galleries and Antiques was considered to be a very reputable dealer. My wife was a child, but she remembers that there were stores in New York, London and Paris. This beautiful and unique pair came from a church in Germany and were considered to be very old. Since me wife's parents are deceased and no further record concerning the candle sticks has been found, except for a journal showing pieces that they purchased during the 1930's to 1970's. The pair was listed at $500.00. A considerable amount for the 40's.This pair of candlesticks could become the centerpiece for any room and bring a sense of history as well as, unique design appeal.Well known designers have used this type of item to enhance and create a true sense of beauty and elegance in their clients homes.The fact that this pair also has age and authenticity make them truly desirable.I could not find any hallmarks on either of the two candlesticks, however I have been assured by the metal department of Colonial Williamsburg that none were were normally used for church pieces.Please note that one stick has a surface crack (picture #7) that does compromise the strength or appeal of the piece.We are pricing the pair below the 1940's price, an unusual bargain...............
